Renfrew Thomas Low, Ontario

This project doubled the output of the existing power houses, while using the same volume of water. The lower plant (built in 1902), and the upper plant (built in 1911 – 1912) had a total capacity of 2 MW. The new Thomas Low plant was built beside the lower plant. For this redevelopment project, Norcan provided two new Kaplan axial flow Saxo 55 in., 1400 mm diameter 2MW turbines. With a total installed capacity of 4 MW. Norcan’s scope of work included engineering, project management, manufacturing of the turbines, supply of the generators, installation, and commissioning. Norcan provides innovative turbine solutions.
