Renfrew Thomas Low 4.0 MW, Ontario

NORCAN successfully completed the design, manufacturing, and installation of the new greenfield Thomas Low power plant project replacing an old hydroelectric generating station was originally built over 100 years ago. A development expansion with a new powerhouse and modern generating units doubling the capacity of the two existing power plants with Water to Wire delivery and 2 x new NORCAN KAPLAN Axial Flow Saxo 55-in (1400-mm) diameter 514 RPM 2MW, 4MW total installed capacity with NORCAN modern hydraulic geometries for more power output significantly increasing the sustainable annual energy production supporting building climate resilience while maximizing the power plant revenue for decades of dependable operations. NORCAN scope of work included engineering, R&D, Design, Project Management, Manufacturing of the Turbine, supply of the Generator and W2W, Installation, and Commissioning with best quality made in Canada with core components sourced in Canada and the U.S.A.
