This was a redevelopment project for an already existing powerhouse. The client wanted to reduce the number of units from 10 to 6, while increasing the total capacity of the station. In addition to this, the existing building shell and footprint needed to be preserved. Lastly, there was a capacity limit of the powerhouse crane that required the units to be shipped to site partially dismantled. Norcan produced six single regulated, vertical, 87.79 in., 2230 mm, 1MW propeller turbines. Total installed capacity is 6 MW. Despite the project constraints, Norcan was able to greatly increase the station’s output. Norcan’s scope of work included engineering, project management, manufacturing of the turbines, supply of the generators, installation, and commissioning. Norcan provides innovative turbine solutions.
