Job Description
Job Summary:
This position generally works within the Production and Manufacturing Department of the Company. The candidate millwrights shall install, maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in manufacturing plants, project sites, and other industrial establishments. Attention to detail in reading and understanding the technical documents and blueprint drawings is essential. Occasional travel to various customer sites, vendors, subcontractors, and other business-related locations is part of the individual’s task scope.
Under partial supervision, the individual performs the duties listed below with complete competence.
Typical Duties (including but not limited to):
- Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations, especially working with heavy tools, sharp objects, lubricant and chemical material, pressurized vessels, within confined space or at height, or as such;
- Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and be able to accurately track his / her times per activity;
- Maintain Inspection Records and complete inspection reports;
- Ability to read and follow work procedures, work orders /detailed work instructions (DWIs);
- Ability to travel for an extended period of time.
Field Scope of Work:
- Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary and or rotary equipment such as turbines, pumps, tanks, and pipes according to layout plans using hand and power tools;
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jigs & rigs, forklifts, and jacks to position equipment during assembly, installation, set-up, and repairs;
- Oversees preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces, and lubricating mechanical parts;
- Identifies, fixes, and repairs defective and problematic parts by measurements, running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts;
- Dismantles older machines and parts, and replaces them with new ones;
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, gearbox, vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and programmable logic controls;
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts;
- Shop Scope of Work:
- Operate lathes, milling machines, and grinders;
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes and jacks to position machinery during set-up and repairs;
- Inspect and examine machinery to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions;
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts;
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery;
- Construct fabricate, grind and weld embedded or fixing parts for machinery or direct others;;
- Assembles and installs machines, then adjusts and tests them to make sure they work correctly;
- Assemble equipment prior to installation using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment;
- Good knowledge of welding:
- Mig;
- Tig;
- Stick;
Essential Skills:
- Mechanical aptitude in dealing with wrenches, hammers, grinders, drills, weld machines, forklifts, jigs & cranes, and other similar tools;
- Familiar with troubleshooting techniques to solve machines and parts issues and proven ability to analyze and solve related technical problems and perform root-cause analysis;
- Working knowledge and technical skills to effectively read documents such as specifications, instruction manuals, and blueprints;
- Self-motivated /self-directed, and productive within a team environment;
- Good listening and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail;
- Proven problem-solving abilities;
- Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, results-oriented environment;
- Aptitude for following detailed, step-by-step instructions and management direction;
- Willingness to grow with the position as the role evolves;
- Ability to lift and transport large, moderately heavy equipment;
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings;
- Being an organized person and taking an enthusiastic approach to work;

- Strong understanding of customer satisfaction concepts, sociable to develop customer relationships;
- Must possess a valid driver’s license;
- Bilingual, English/French (Asset).
Required Working Knowledge:
- Operating welding equipment
- Using Measuring equipment and Shop Safety
- ISO Standards as they apply to Design and Manufacturing
- Hoisting & Rigging, Lock Out, First Aid, WHMIS, and other safety programs
- Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights
Relevant Experience Required:
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in the field or in a related area
Education Required/Minimum Requirement:
- High School diploma and or College Grad (Associate’s Degree) with proper Certifications (an asset) or equivalent
- Completion of the apprenticeship program
Working Conditions:
- Working in a shop, PPE required
- May be required to travel out of the country for work
- Lifting and transporting heavy equipment
Salary:
- $25.00 – $30.00 / hour
